The rooster bowl becomes today’s Google Doodle (12/9/2022). This bowl with the distinctive image of a black-tailed rooster as well as peony flowers and banana leaves is a traditional tableware that has become a legend, and has even spread and is popular in various parts of the country, including Indonesia.

In fact, the chicken bowl was created more than 100 years ago by the Hakka people of Guangdong province, China. The Hakka individually printed and hand painted the bowl design.

With the meaning of the image of a rooster as a symbol of hard work, while banana leaves and red peony symbolize dreams and luck.

Then, in 1957, many entrepreneurs opened a rooster cooking equipment factory in Lampang province, Thailand. Because the area is known to be rich in clay minerals, which are the main ingredients for making pottery.

Tableware depicting a rooster sells well in the market, and of course has a positive impact on the economy of Lampang residents themselves.

The Thai government then registered the Lampang chicken dish as a Lampang Geographical Indication product on September 12, 2013.

To celebrate the Lampang Rooster Bowl, Google also featured this phenomenal bowl on the front page of its search engine, on Monday (12/9/2022).

“Cock-a-Doodle-Do! Today’s Doodle celebrates the iconic Lampang Rooster Bowl, a traditional dinnerware design that features a black-tailed rooster complete with peonies and banana leaves.” Google wrote on its official page.

When users access Google com, the main page will display the Rooster Bowl or a black-tailed rooster bowl complete with peonies and banana leaves. If the doodle is clicked or tapped, the user will be immediately redirected to the search results page with the keyword ‘Jago Bowl’.

Information about rooster bowls has been known to come from China, even down to the price.

Unfortunately, today only a few factories in Lampang can design chicken bowls according to traditional styles and materials. As a result, the production of original hand-painted bowls became a rare collector’s item.

Google also asked netizens to check if they have the legendary rooster bowl collection. “They could bring good luck to your family!” Google wrote.
